Roulette Systems, Explained! - part 2
I bet you’ve heard about the roulette cheating systems as a number of authors have been claiming that cheating at roulette is possible and by doing it you can win consistent profits. Well, I think these strategies are by far the most likely to both win you a fortune and obtain your hand broken by casino security goons. Yeah! Cheating at roulette is highly prohibited, although there are some instances that players were able to do it. Note that I have included cheating systems in this article as they are the most fun to review. However, I am not recommending any of these systems as these involve great consequences. So, you’ve learned about the three major systems that are commonly employed at roulette tables. The next thing that you can do is to pay attention to the following specific systems as these would help you understand how they work and what their flaws are. Also note that these systems were then used by casino patrons, but none of them were able to reduce the house edge to the lowest level. Take a look at these specific systems: The Bias Wheel System Also known as the “wonky wheel” strategy, the Bias Wheel System has actually been around since the 1800s. The basis of this system is the possibility that there are irregularities in the part of the wheel that the ball spins on. The proponents of this system believe that if the roulette wheel has a tilt, the point at which the ball drops from the rim will be biased towards the high points. There are also other factors that go along with this belief; one of those is warping of the wheel may introduce the same biases. But, the question is, does this bias help you identify the result of the spin? My answer is probably not. If a biased wheel does exist, then it follows that there may be bias as to where the balk drops in relation to the stationary part of the roulette table. The main point to note here is that the part of the wheel that contains the numbers is spinning. So, if that is the case, then there would be no way of telling which number the ball would land at because this portion of the wheel is constantly in motion. This is true even if there was a bias towards where a ball landed. Another support for my claim is the fact that even if we assume that we could determine where a ball would first drop, the roulette wheel is spinning so fast, with a number of metal bars separating the numbers to ricochet the ball into a completely different part of the wheel. And, if the wheel is stationary, then I guess the bias wheel system would have a chance of working. The good news is, the casino knows this, which is why they spin the roulette wheel. The Fallacy of Prediction Systems Many classic gamblers have been piling thousands of dollars worth of casino chips on “black” simply because the ten previous spins have been a red number. Well, they are only partially right. The odds of 11 red numbers in 11 spins are very low, but there’s no way for you to bet on eleven spins. You can only bet on the next spin and that spin has exactly the same chance of the number being black as any other spin. That is close to 50:50. The prediction system is then the mistaken notion that the odds for something with a fixed probability increase or decrease depending upon the recent occurrences. The truth is this strategy won’t work, otherwise the casino won’t show you the last 20 numbers on the electronic board above the wheel. The casino introduced these electronic boards because they knew that players of roulette would fall victim into this fallacy and would wager large amounts when they mistakenly believe that something is due. The “Agent 86 Computer Shoe” System Have you heard about that old roulette calculator in the shoe trick? Aha! That’s highly illegal, but such a good story is worth telling. The system was first discovered when a Hungarian tourist in Sydney was caught wearing a battered shoe which the police suspect could be behind the multi-million dollar European fraud. The Hungarian tourist was then arrested after he won large bets at a Star City casino roulette wheel. Story has it that the casino security personnel became suspicious of the then 59-year old Hungarian gambler constantly tapping his right foot under a roulette table. In the investigation, the police found a Maxwell Smart-style microcomputer hidden in the heel and sole of the man’s scuffed elevated dress shoe. According to the experts, this is an example of a roulette strategy devised in the 1970s by Doyne Farmer, a pioneer of chaos theory. Farmer determined a system through which the number could be predicted to within a small neighborhood based on observations of the speed of the ball as well as the deceleration rate of the wheel. Past Posting Here is another strategy used in the casino to beat roulette – the Past Posting. This roulette system involves the act of adding chips to a winning number, or removing of chips from a losing number after the ball has already dropped into the wheel. Your chance to do this is when the dealer is checking the number, and therefore must look either to their left or right before turning back to the table to place the marker on the number. According to some patrons of this system, the best position to do this from is the far end of the table, furthest away from the wheel and the dealer. There is also another well-known method for doing this past posting, that is, to distract the dealer somehow with conversation, with an attractive member of the opposite sex or an accomplice pretending to fall over at the right time. Well, it is clear that to make this strategy possible, you have to have good eyesight to see the winning number from such a distance and the hands of a magician to get your chips on or off without being noticed. This would possibly work, but this will not be a long term strategy for you. But, today with the introduction of cameras at the table, past posting is impossible to work because if the dealer and pit bosses don’t get you, the “eye in the sky” eventually will. Double or Nothing System Double or Nothing roulette system is commonly applied when betting on anything that has odds of close to 50:50, like the odds or evens, black or red, or first 18 and second 18. This system is based on the idea that if you lose, you need to double your next bet until you win and recover your losses. At first glance, this has all been good news so far, but as with the most roulette systems, your chances of winning doesn’t last a lifetime. The “On A Winning Roll” System This roulette strategy is in the first place an almost opposite to the Double or Nothing. The reason is that this system suggests that you should increase your bet after a winning spin. The main idea here is that you take advantage of the so-called “winning runs”, which are situations where you win many spins in a row. Often the sellers of this kind of beating system will play off the negative reputation of the double or nothing. They encourage players of roulette that increasing their bets after every losing spin may lead to a downward spiral of bigger and bigger losses. Well, they are right on this point, but the problem with this system is that the number of time you obtain a successful winning run is not frequent enough to overcome the losses you will make when your bets are losing. There is even a risk of one winning runs coming to a premature end, which mean that you lose a significant amount of that spin. Now, having said all these, I guess it is easy for you to understand there is still no specific system that is proven to work for beating roulette. Although there are some claims about those mentioned systems, they are not reasonable enough to lower the house edge, as the house advantage never goes away in roulette as roulette is a pure game of chance. So, no matter how the system is applied, it cannot reduce the house edge. |
